À Bientôt en France!

Where to now?
At this point, you’ve explored the options of how to get yourself started on finding a job in France. By now you should know how to apply for a passport, where to find temporary English jobs in France, and where to apply to a French University including where to apply for a student visa. Do you feel like you have a better idea of which direction you want to pursue? If you’re still unsure, you can also ask yourself the question of "Why do I want to work internationally in France?" Is it because of the fine French cuisine, vineyards, culture, language, and fashion? I agree all of the above are great reasons.

Now let's move into Fashion.
If you feel empowered and want to adapt to the culture to make a statement and get the international job of your dreams to take the next step and update your wardrobe. France is known as one of the fashion capitals of the world. As an outsider, you want to blend in with the ongoing trends and fashion statements because it helps build confidence, especially in a new country. If you want to include business attire at an affordable price the ZaraCollection in France is the best option for a modern-sleek look at a reasonable price. Zara offers business attire for women and men with unique styles that will freshen up your look. Let’s just say French fashion will land you the job. A good question to ask yourself is would you consider your current wardrobe “á la mode?” Explore more options at Zara Online Shop.

What is your goal?
Getting to France is your ultimate goal! Make a timeline and track your progress with applications, meeting deadlines, and saving money for your big move. A good time is to start making connections with people who live in France through LinkedIn. However, LinkedIn is still growing as a professional platform in France and isn’t as popular. Instead try a popular platform French people use to connect with professionals worldwide to find job opportunities called SHAPR, and it is also available to use in the U.S. Leboncoin is another option that serves as a reference site for classified ads from individuals and professionals for different categories including employment, real estate, used cars, vacation rentals, furniture and much more. in every region in France. Another option is Pôle emploi, a platform available for potential candidates and employers to list news, events, jobs, and find training opportunities within several regions in France. Another tip is to search for companies in the United States that have office locations internationally. A few tech companies that have global offices in France and are based in Austin include Accenture, Deloitte, and SpeachMe. Accenture is a global professional services company with a broad range of services in consulting, digital, technology, and operations. Deloitte is a management and consulting firm that specializes in financial advisory, risk management, audit, and tax services. SpeachMe is a computer software company that creates video tutorials for training and informational videos to improve productivity, reduce downtime, and lower training costs.

How much time do you have to plan your move to France?
If you feel like you’re running out of time and need to get to France ASAP, then there is ONE more solution that's probable.

Last Minute Decisions and One possible Solution.
“Le Mariage.” Oui Oui! If you are in the pool of single fishes and have a dating app handy, you'll be lucky to find your crème de la crème partner who is a French citizen. The choice of signing a marriage contract will grant you all access to the European Union. Don't forget to think rationally and never rush into any long-term commitments and contracts, but marriage can give you more opportunities for yourself and your new partner.

Benefits of Getting Married to a French Citizen.
One positive attribute would be becoming a European Citizen and attaining dual citizenship in both the U.S.A and France. There are numerous benefits in becoming a European Citizen. A great benefit includes being able to work in every country within the European Union including Spain, Germany, Italy, Sweden, Netherlands, Ireland, Denmark, Belgium, Czech Republic, Poland, Romania, Croatia, Bulgaria, Finland, Greece, Belgium, Portugal, Hungary, Austria, Malta, Luxembourg, Cyprus, Lithuania, Slovenia, Slovakia, Estonia, Latvia, and the United Kingdom (maybe). The next attribute is Universal Healthcare that is granted to every European Citizen. As a citizen, you have the option to purchase private insurance and will give you the option of using two types of healthcare coverage.
As a citizen, you are granted "protection sociale" which is governmental protection for you and your family if you lose a job or are becoming unemployed. It’s difficult to lose a job in France because of the amount of governmental protection but at the same time, it is difficult to find full-time employment due to the country’s high unemployment rate at 8.8%.

More Benefits of Getting Married to a European Citizen Include:
Dual citizenship also benefits your French lover. If you want to get married in the United States you can export your potential foreign partner with a K-1 nonimmigrant visa and file the Form I-129F, Petition for Alien Fiancé(e). To obtain a K-1 fiancé visa you and your fiancé must marry each other within 90 days of your fiancé entering the U.S.A. There is a list of eligibility for applying for the Fiancé Visa check to see if you and your partner are qualified for the K-1 Visa.
One great benefit of getting married in America is getting your spouse a Green Card, which is the golden ticket for foreigners to work in the United States. Green Card holders are known as Lawful Permanent Residents in the United States. There are a few benefits of becoming a permanent resident which include, Green Card holders pay significantly less for tuition to attend colleges, universities, or vocational schools. Green Card holders can also sponsor relatives to apply for their own permanent residency. The family member must be an immediate relative such as a parent, or unmarried children under 21 years old, and they can also sponsor a non-relative under the Family Preference category. Permanent residency status as a Green Card holder means you can make contributions to U.S. election campaigns by donating, the only restriction is voting because voting in U.S. elections is only reserved for full United States citizens. If a Green Card Holder works for 10 years in the United States before retiring, they are entitled to receive Social Security benefits. The ultimate goal for any Green Card holders is to take a big step towards becoming a full U.S. citizen and take the necessary steps and assessments to become a United States Citizen. This serves as a preliminary step towards helping your spouse become a citizen in the U.S.A.

Which options will you pursue?
In the end, you have many possibilities to explore. It will be a long process but once you have everything organized and submitted the process will get easier from there.
This is only a snippet of the options you have to work abroad in France. Even you’re not thinking of working in France I hope you will be able to use this a guide to apply for other Non-European countries. After all, you only live once, and these types of opportunities are waiting for you. Don’t regret your life choice by settling down and being stuck in the same city, and having a job you don’t love, buckle down and apply for the job of your dreams! It’s only a click away.

Bon Voyage!

En Suite...

Bonjour les Amis,

Now that you have looked over the two most basic options in finding a job in France, let's take a closer look to other long-term options.

If you already have a Bachelor's degree and want to continue your education in France for a master's or doctorate degree without using an exchange program, you'll want to apply first through Campus France. France has an educational program called "Studies in France" or "Études en France," where 42 countries are part of the program and the best thing is the United States is one of them!

The best part is, you can still work as a student in France during your stay and this will help you find a permanent job in your field of study.

Parlez vous français?

Do you Speak French?

Is it necessary to speak french to work in France?

Answer is Yes and No.

Reminder the French community is very proud of their language and culture.
Learning French would be a way to integrate and show your respect towards that culture.
Learning a new language is very useful and it adds value to your expertise.

However,
If your French isn't up to par, here are TWO options to get you started.

  • Option 1: Become an Au Pair; if you like working with kids and have experience in childcare this is a the job for you!
  • Option 2: Teach English; volunteer to teach English to a class and a host family.

Welcome and Bienvenue!

  • How many of you are interested in finding a professional job internationally?
  • Specifically, how many of you are interested in finding a job in France?

The journey to live and work abroad isn't easy and there is many steps towards achieving this particular goal. My personal goal is to land a professional job in France before the end of Summer 2019. I will be tracking my progress while providing useful information for other Americans who want to work internationally.

I chose this topic because I am interested learning more about international marketing and I think getting hired at a French marketing company would be the best learning and working experience.
